Advice on Greenhouse Cleaning: Tips for Maintenance

1 min read

Every week, remove dead plant material from plants and soil. Watch out for slugs and other pests on plants, in pots, under trays, corners and benches; sterilize pots/flats using Physan 20 (#7620) before reuse.

At least once each year, remove all plants from your greenhouse and carefully clean its benches, shelves and walkways with water from a hose to remove surface dirt and debris. Spray with disinfectant (Physan 20) before spraying again using soft cloth or sponge – remembering only to rub lightly along channels!) (For TwinWall greenhouses use rinse with hose followed by mild liquid dishwashing soap in warm water using soft cloth or sponge; use circular motion when rubbing to avoid scratches).)

Use Bull Frog Lubricant to grease metal frames, door hinges and vents.

Clean glass admits more light and heat. To eliminate stubborn algae spots, spray with Physan 20 or household bleach and let soak before rinsing off; or for tree pitch and adhesive residue use Citrus Cleaner.
